Your guide to choosing, wearing and caring for WUKA period pants. Find the right absorbency and style, learn how they work, how to wash them at 40°C, and what to expect on heavy and super heavy days.

Period pants look like regular underwear with a built in multi layer gusset that absorbs flow, locks it in and helps control odour. For a quick explainer, see How Period Pants Work.
Match absorbency to your heaviest part of the cycle. Medium holds around 15 ml for moderate days, Heavy holds 20 ml or more, and Super Heavy holds up to 60 ml for very heavy days and nights. Browse Heavy Flow or Super Heavy to compare.
Use the size chart to choose your usual size, then fine tune by hip measurement. If your size fluctuates or you want a flexible fit during bloating, try multi size WUKA Stretch. Check the Size Guide for details.
Aim for up to 12 hours per pair depending on your flow. For sleep or long shifts, choose higher coverage or super heavy styles. Explore the Overnight collection or compare options in Super Heavy.
Most people use 5 to 7 pairs for a full switch, depending on cycle length and laundry routine. If you are starting out, begin with 3 to 5 pairs across different absorbencies and add more once you learn your flow pattern.

How to Wash and Care your WUKA Period Pants

Rinse your pants or pads in cold water as soon as possible after use

RINSE OR WASH

After use, give them a quick rinse. It’s up to you where you choose to rinse your pants - some of us prefer to use a sink, some prefer to rinse in the shower, and others even have a dedicated WUKA-rinsing bucket! (Now that’s some true WUKA love!)

Machine Washable - place your pants or pads in the washing machine and wash at 30°

Machine Wash

Pop your WUKAs in the washing machine with similar, dark coloured garments and wash at 30 to 40 degrees. (We recommend 30, as it’s better for the environment!).

Our Seamless, Swim Brief and Re-Purpose pants should be washed in cold water. We also recommend washing any WUKAs with mesh or lace in a wash bag. This will help prolong the life and the strength of the mesh.

Use your favourite detergent as normal, but please don’t use fabric conditioner. Fabric conditioner can reduce the absorbency of your period pants over time, which isn’t ideal.

Alternatively, WUKA Period Pants love to be hand washed. Not everyone has the time for this, but hand washing can extend their lifespan.

Air dry your WUKA period pants and pads on the washing line or on an airer

Dry

Air dry your WUKA Period Pants outside on the line or indoors on an airer - it’s up to you (or the weather). They tend to dry faster when they’re inside out, too.
