Composition
FAQ: Leak-Proof Period Swimwear
WUKA period swimwear is designed to absorb periods and little leaks whilst in or out of the water.
How does this period swimsuit work?
A waterproof outer shell keeps pool and sea water out, while the absorbent core locks your flow in. Chlorine-resistant, UV-50+ and PFAs-tested, and it looks like a normal racerback swimsuit. Nothing to insert. Just wear and swim.
How much flow does it hold?
Up to 15ml, around 3 tampons or 2 pads' worth, designed for light to medium days. A couple of hours in the pool on a heavy day is usually fine, especially as water pressure slows your flow while you swim. You know your flow best.
Can my teen wear it without a tampon?
Yes. The built-in absorbent core means there is nothing to insert, which makes it ideal for teens who do not want to use tampons. She can swim lessons, club training or beach days completely tampon-free.
Is it good for swimming lessons and club training?
Yes. The racerback cut keeps straps secure through dives, turns and proper swimming, and the chlorine-resistant fabric is built for regular pool time. It is made for active swimmers, not just lounging.
Will pool water make it heavy or leak?
No. The waterproof shell stops water soaking in and the core traps your flow, so nothing escapes into the pool and the suit never goes soggy or heavy.
What size should I choose?
Her usual swimwear size, worn snug. A close fit around the legs and gusset is what stops leaks. If she is between sizes, size down for swimming. See more styles in our teen period swimwear collection.
How do I wash it?
Rinse in cold water straight after swimming, pop it in a mesh laundry bag, then machine wash cool at 30C. No fabric softener and no tumble drying. Hang to dry. A wet bag keeps it sealed until you get home.
How long will it last?
Around two seasons of regular swimming, thanks to the chlorine-resistant recycled nylon. That makes the cost per wear small against disposables. New to swimming on your period? Read our guide to swimming on your period.
